A partnership event with South West Development Centre, Arts & Health South West and UWE

This ground breaking event is designed to bring together artists, health promotion specialists, public health, mental health practitioners and people with lead roles to promote sustainable strategies. The event is free but we are keen to get a cross section of people to attend so the applications will be selected to ensure that we have a mix of people from different organisations.

We are inviting teams of up to ten people from each of the patches in the South West Region, to hear from leaders in their fields on the policies and practices that support making connections across sectors to improve mental well being in our communities.

Speakers at the event are:
Dr Sam Everington: The Bromley By Bow Centre.
Dr Marian Naidoo: Lead for Arts and Culture for the National Social Inclusion Programme.
Dr Susan O’Connor: Leading on the New Horizons Strategy.
Jane Willis: Chair of Arts & Health South West.
Professor Norma Daykin: Lead for Arts and Health research at the newly launched Institute for Sustainability, Health and Environment at UWE.
Rebecca Harwick: South West Development Centre

This event aims to achieve the following:

  • To explore leading edge thinking around the arts, sustainability and mental wellbeing
  • To demonstrate, through inspirational case studies, how the arts can contribute to the care and inequalities agenda
  • To promote how we can embed evidence about arts, mental wellbeing and sustainability in health policy and practice 
  • To promote sustainable working with the arts in order to promote our collective wellbeing
